This post is ruined

Thanks everyone for your sympathy, comments and suggestions for Jake and the door. He doesn't really like it when I leave without him but he's always been just fine in the rig with the cats so I don't know what happened that night; something spooked him good. I'm not at all upset about what he did to the door, stuff can be repaired, I'm just sorry he was so freaked out.

Yesterday was a day of exploration. Here, let me show you.

Gran Quivira National Monument ruins (doggy friendly)

Quarai Mission Ruins (doggy friendly)

Historic Shaffer Hotel in Mountainair, NM

And because there just aren't enough pictures in this post yet, some awesome landscape and clouds.

  1. Nice ruins, I'm glad Jake could go, too. I never made it to Mountainair, but it looks nice if the hotel is any indication.:)

    1. There's really not much to Mountainair other than the old hotel. nice scenery, though.

    1. They're two of the three Salinas Pueblo Missions. The third is Abo, which I didn't get to see.

  4. Really love your pictures but you don't have nearly enough to qualify as an over picture poster and I'm one who should know about that! So glad to see you out and about and seeing these really interesting places. The ruins look so beautiful as do the skies. Happy you!

  7. Love the contrasting colors of the two ruins - like they had "paint chips" to choose from when building :-))). The clouds are beautiful, they didn't ruin the post at all.......

    1. I really like the red of the Quarai ruins best but both places were impressive.

  8. We took many MANY a motorcycle ride down to the ruins when we lived east of Albuquerque. My favorite color-wise was always Quarai, but it always fascinated me how they built one "batch" of living quarters over an older section in Gran Quivera. Thanks for the memories...
