Bad blogger, bad!

Whew, I didn't intend to stay away from the blog for so long, there just hasn't been much to blog about. I took a break from working on the big rig and thus my life became sitting in the A/C in the new rig and wishing I were at higher elevations.

I've been going over to the big rig again lately as I've had the motivation and I think I now have everything out of it that I want to keep. It's looking pretty darned empty in there now. I've decided to put it into storage for the summer then come back when the weather is nice again to finish getting it ready and sold. I just can't be stuck here in this heat any longer. And now apparently it's bug season and I can't step outside the rig without immediately being covered in gnats and mosquitoes. It's a little crazy-making and I don't need that much of a push.

I've decided to remove the passenger seat in the new rig to make more floor space. Besides the couch, there's a chair right beside the entry door that I was originally thinking of removing but it turns out I sit there all the time, so passenger seat it is. If I ever do have a passenger with me, there will be other options for seating and I just don't see the sense in having all that unused space in such a small rig. I removed the seat earlier today and now just have the base to deal with.

Here's what the couch looks like after I've made a run over to the other rig. It's so messy the camera couldn't decide what to focus on.
And there's the just-removed passenger seat top center

Here's a better look at the passenger seat removal.

There are bolts to remove underneath the carpet.

I'm going to put the cats' stuff here so it's not under my feet

I'm sure poor Jake is bored half to death. Between the heat and the &%*$ bugs he hasn't been getting his usual exercise (and neither have I). He's taken to tearing apart the bed after I half-assed make it in the morning.

See what I mean?

  1. Yes... Bad blogger, bad! lol... Any kind of posts are better than nothing even if they are boring, just keep us posted on the everyday mundane things. Sounds like it can't get much more miserable where you are between the heat and the bugs. Dang. I am mercifully grateful we have had mild heat so far and where I live it is so dry we don't get the bitey kind of bugs, thank goodness. The heat is coming though, and where I live any kind of fire from California to Oregon to Utah will settle in this Nevada basin and we breathe smoke most the summer.I have had the cooler on, but with me and any kind of heat I'd run it in the winter if I could. lol... I know most any kind of activity comes to a screeching halt around here when the heat hits. You need to get out of there and find yourself a wonderful new spot to take your new rig. I bet you'll be glad to get some highway under those wheels. Jake too! He doesn't look very happy with you... ; ) Keep at it. I am overwhelmed here with all the crap I have collected and am weeding through, how did I ever let myself get this way? You have my total support and just be glad your aren't at the starting point of the journey like you were years ago... It is as I said overwhelming...

    1. It was pretty smokey from the Slide fire when I went to Flagstaff to see this rig. I'd hate to deal with smoke all summer long.

I will be happy to show my backside to this infernal heat. Even with my a/c on high and fans on, it's 84ยบ in here right now. I know Jake will be happy to go outside for more than a quick trip, too.

  2. SO sorry you are having to share the bug business. But think your idea of storing and moving up is a great one. Jake actually looks guilty in that picture. Now where is it I will sit when you are motoring me around NM and AZ????

  3. No, not a bad blogger. It takes a huge amount of energy to do what you are doing and with the heat and now the bugs it's amazing that you are still sane.

Great idea to store the big RV and get out of Dodge. Looking forward from the next post on the road in cooler temps.

  5. Great idea to store the big rig until you feel like continuing with the clean-out and sale. And I also like your idea of removing the passenger seat. That would be a great storage place, except the Princess has her car seat there and it's working so well for us. And I guess I do store the outside chair and table up there, and other things under the dash. Oh, well, I like the idea.

It's pretty nice up here in the Bluewater Lake area. We do have bugs, but the temps and breezes are nice. Start heading north, and you'll at least get some cooler temps. :)

    1. I was thinking of heading to Bluewater from here, Barbara. I hope you're still around if/when I get there.

  6. It's no fun to work in heat covered with bugs. Time for higher ground. Still nice at the North Rim.

    1. Heat is bad. Bugs are bad. Combined they're exponentially bad.

I would like to get up to the North Rim again someday, and then head on up to Kanab.

  8. Well, it's about time young lady! At least you could check in so we don't worry....sorry, opened my mouth and my mother came out! I was hoping you were having too much fun to post, and bummed that you've had a yucky few days :-(. Very smart to store-and-go for now. Time to get that new baby on the road toward cooler temps. Jake will be thrilled you finally took the hint! Safe travels.

    1. LOL, sorry to make you worry, mom.

Jake is making his hints stronger now; had me up and outside 3 times in the night last night.

  9. Uh, Jake, did you really do that??? Noooo, the cats did it you say???? ha..Gotta love those pets!
Glad to see a new post. Even though I don't comment often I still enjoy reading them. I'll be glad when you can hopefully get to a cooler 'open window' type spot. Years ago when we traveled along with my parents in our home made camping vans we used to go to Bluewater lake and camp near the banks of the lake for several days/nights at a time. I love that place, we could let our cat out for a little outdoor exercise there without much worry. Hey, perhaps you could use that added space where the seat was for the litter box? Enjoy your ride to cooler temps, and take bunches of pictures to share with us!

    1. I'm really looking forward to finding a spot where I can let the cats out and Jake off-leash for a bit. We all are seriously in need of some fresh air and exercise.

Yes, that's the plan; litter box and feeding station where the passenger seat was. I really hate having that stuff under my feet.
