Finishing up

I'm starting to feel like, yes, I really will be leaving here soon.  The big rig is cleaned out as much as it's going to be for now and I drove it to the storage lot this morning. Whew! I feel lighter!

I've had this feeling running around in my head about towing the Honda behind my new tiny home. I really don't wanna. When I think about going toad-free, I feel light and good; when I think about towing the Honda, I make a face like I've tasted something I don't want to taste again. So, friends, this afternoon I signed another contract with the storage lot to store my car along with the big rig. The contract is just for three months and will let me know with little doubt if I really can live happily without a toad. And down the line, I could always put a scooter or dirt bike on the back of the rig if I want another option for errands or scouting boondocking spots but don't want a car. This decision to put the car in storage also makes me feel light. I'm excited for this experiment to begin.

The only thing keeping me here now is an order delivery that I expect Tuesday then I can bug out. I have been in this heat for far too long and can hardly wait to feel cool again. I remember what cool feels like. I even remember what chilly feels like. I want to need a sweatshirt again, maybe even, dare I say it, pants!

My 14 days in this spot are up so I'll be moving to another tomorrow. This spot has been Percha Dam State Park. If it weren't for the current heat and bug issues, this would be a really terrific place to camp if you want either hookups or primitive camping. It's quite small and has a cozy feel to it, and it's much quieter than its neighboring, larger parks. I would definitely come here again - just not in June.

They take their leash rules very seriously here

Does this rig make my dog look big?

And finally, when I bought my new home from Kyle, Julia and Ender, they told me her name was The Ship and I like that. She does have a bit of a nautical feel to her, maybe it's all the fiberglass. But I got to feeling like maybe The Ship needs an additional moniker and I keep coming back to how she makes me feel (I'm all about the feels, y'all). When I think of her, I think of how happy I am to have her. I feel blissful. So I'm christening The Ship, Bliss. Long may she sail.

  1. Happy you are finally able to bug out of there! This will be an interesting experiment. I have a feeling the car and RV will be for sale before too long. Bliss is a beautiful RV. I still can't get over all those windows. May you be putting pants on soon!

  2. Such a cool looking little rig you have. I know with a ship or boat you have to pull it out of the water to rename it so I don't know how it works with an RV. Maybe burn some sage and smudge it inside and out... I'm so glad you are seeing the end of the move, the heat, the bugs and the beginning of sweatshirts and long pants in the near future. I bought a 36' class A 3 years ago and have never taken her out except for little jaunts. I planned on being fulltime last year Sept. but then took a spill and broke my wrist and there is no way of driving a beast like that with one arm.. I think I have always known that I want smaller also. I just want less and smaller of everything. I have to get her up for sale. Good thing I figured it out before I filled her full of stuff and then had to un-stuff her to downsize to a smaller RV. I think also after being a lady trucker for over 30 years I just don't want to drive a big anything anymore. I sure hope you travel many carefree, trouble free and happy miles in your new rig.

    1. Sorry about the wrist injury, hope you're good as new now.

I'm envious you don't have to clear out your rig before selling. That's the hard part.

  3. Feeling light is a great thing. Sounds like you're following some good intuition there. I'm amazed you've lasted in the heat this long...hope you get to wear that sweatshirt soon!

  5. Must feel wonderful to be 'lighter' on the load and the toad. Plus bugging out of the heat bonus because you're Mobile. Jakes fort is cool.

    1. I think being on the road sans toad will be pretty awesome.

I thought it was funny that Jake burrowed even in this heat.

  7. Happy Trails Annie, you sound so upbeat with your new The Ship, Bliss. Be interesting to hear how you like being without a toad. You can always get a nice big basket for a scooter for hauling stuff from the store..

Jake sure looks like he is ready t co pilot this road trip.

  8. I think Jake is saying he wants to be somewhere that he needs a blanket like you need a sweatshirt. That guy is so not subtle :-). Bliss indeed, she feels like that. Glad you're finally able to launch!

  9. Bliss is a GREAT Name. May she always provide it for you. Being lighter really does feel good. I think you are a smarty pants to try toadless before giving up your toad. Paying storage is easier than buying a new toad would be. Waiting to see where you'll be headed in your new Light Bliss.

    1. Thanks, I like it, too. She seems happy. :)

It's just $30 to store the car for 3 months. That seems like a fair price to pay for this experiment.

  10. Cool rig and I like the name The Ship. I can't wait to get back on the road again myself, staying with family for the holiday right now.
