In Memoriam

Yesterday, our most senior kitty, Lily, ended her journey in this life. Last month, Bob left us. The month before, Max. It's been a rough few months but I am so, so grateful that they all left on their own terms, in their own time.

Lily, April 1997 - May 22, 2014

Bob, Spring 2000 - April 30, 2014

Max, Oct. 2001 - March 18, 2014

  1. Really lovely pictures if you fur friends Annie. They were all so lucky to have spent their lives with you. That's a lot of loss in such a short time. I am sorry.

  4. I understand how your feeling Annie & it isn't easy. I found it so hard when we lost our Max, Checkers & Cora. I have had friends pass away that never affected me as deeply as the loss of our beloved dogs. When one spends every waking day for years with their beloved best Pals a pet's loss is truly heart wrenching, difficult, & a hole is left in one's life. A hole that can take a long time to heal....if it ever really does.

    1. Thanks Al, I agree. I still get weepy thinking of the pets I lost decades ago.

  5. So much sorrow when you lose a beloved pet but to have three leave so close together it must be extremely difficult for you. Perhaps knowing that they are together now will help your sorrow.

  7. I had two cats when I lived in Pollock Pines, both tigers - one grey and one yellow. Just like your Lily and Max. Beautiful - I love tiger striped cats. I'm so sorry you've lost them, and Bob - but Cat Heaven is a much happier place with them up there now. :)

  8. We could miss the pain but then we would miss the dance...I don't think any of us want to miss the dance with our fur friends!

    1. Thanks Pam. This is the downside to having pets, they always leave before you're ready.

  10. I feel your pain. I'm very sorry for your losses. They surely look like they had very happy lives and a caring home. I know that doesn't help, now, but some day it will. As Al said, I loved my Lizzie better than most people...hands down. And, I'm trying to live day by day with my Jack who has been by my side for almost 13 years, now.

Nice that you started a blog--I've put you on my blog roll so I'll be checking in as time permits. I'll have to catch up, first! Have to find out the where and what about you. :)

Thank goodness for the love and joy we share with our pets, it is a treasure we carry with us.....we are so lucky to know how sweet it is .... Keep the beautiful photos on display ....

    1. Thanks Sally. Even in the sadness it's still easy to laugh at the silly things they each did, and they were each very silly in their own ways.

  16. So sorry for the lose of your kitties. I agree that is the worst part of having our furry friends. Our puppy and 2 kitties are around 6 years old, sometimes I think about losing them one day and it is real sad. Becki

    1. Thanks Becki. I know, I've done that, too, and then wonder why I'm borrowing sadness. Maybe it's our way of preparing ourselves for the inevitable but it feels like a waste of emotion to me.
